Brickell Area
BRICKELL is a Miami neighborhood that got his name because Brickell Avenue runs north-south from Downtown Miami –from the Brickell Bridge -south of Miami River to South Dixie Highway.
Along with Downtown, Brickell is Miami and South Florida’s major financial district and a dense, high-rise residential neighborhood with many upscale, luxury condominium and apartment towers. It is known as the “Manhattan of the South”. Actually Brickell Avenue has the largest concentration of international banks in the United States.
Brickell Avenue –also known as the “Millionaires Row”- and its adjacent streets are a very desirable address in Miami, which is associated with high end and luxury real estate for both business and residential use –especially bay-front buildings with spectacular views on Biscayne Bay.
The area is full of excellent restaurants, shops and entertainment like the Mary Brickell Village -designed in a French style- located at the center of the area.
Despite the fact that Brickell is a major financial area, surprisingly it also has a large number of parks, some of which are natural reserves. They are Alice Wainwright Park, Allen Morris Brickell Park, Brickell Key Park, Brickell Park, Miami Circle, Simpson Park, and Southside Park.
Brickell also has many public transportation options, such as the Metrorail, which has a stop at Brickell Station, the Metromover train -a free service that has stops every two blocks connecting with the Metrorail, and a large number of bus lines. The Metrorail connects Brickell to Miami International Airport, Amtrak, and Tri-Rail, as well as the Miami-Dade County buses.
